Battlefield 6's Relaxed Game Mode Sparks Intense Discussions Regarding AI Players, Experience Points, and Wait Times

Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option resembles the standard Breakthrough setup but includes several key changes:

  • Every squad includes just eight human participants, with the remaining made up of 32 bots.
  • Activities performed by human gamers grant complete experience points, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
  • Only two locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
  • Elements like Dogtags, achievements, and stat tracking have been turned off.

So essentially, the playlist lives up to its name: it offers a laid-back take of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, since it gives additional choices for players looking for different methods to enjoy the game. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of BF6 players are mad.

Community Responses: From Fury to Support

"Gamers prefer real players. Don't repeat the errors of your rivals," reads one reply to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking concept," says a different user. Meanwhile, in community forums, one user remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this title," while someone else details all the issues they consider to be problematic in the game: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist."

However, amid the criticism, some gamers sharing how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to warm up, human participants prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," reads one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are gamers who actually go outside and can't play this title all the time. Let them find a middle ground," adds another. A response via social media explains that as they're "a parent gamer with limited time, this is great for me," while someone else praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."

Constructive Concerns and Community Feedback

Despite the support, players have constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase queue times more extended for different playlists because of the large amount of playlists currently available. On a similar note, certain regions often face mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a required amount of real players, even though it primarily centers on fighting AI opponents.

Finally, a major grievances is that a previous feature was promised to provide full XP, including AI matches, but that got canned when they tried to eliminate XP farming from the mode. Thus this new playlist feels like the player base compromising in the middle, according to a Reddit comment. A different user labels this addition as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I had so much fun in the first couple of days, what prompted them to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Adjustments Occur?

If the development team has demonstrated something to date with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and acting on feedback. Assignments being too difficult got fixed rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data indicates this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to change it again.
