Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Opens New England Path to Top Spot - Best of NFL Week 10

The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' mantra that draws so many people into the National Football League
This outcome could have created opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an advantage over their eight and two rivals
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash in week 11, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? That's the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the start as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the team's opening first down in the third quarter and first points in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates registering just 86 yards, their fewest of the year and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Additionally there were the three critical turnovers, and the pair from Josh Allen specifically. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area meaning a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his final quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just later
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defense and Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - Patriots See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're one of three different eight and two teams in the NFL, all AFC teams, but could they be the best?
One could find flaws in the Patriots, Denver and the Colts really for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their combined 24 wins achieved against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Broncos
The Broncos defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their two defeats came in new head coach Vrabel's initial three games, with seven straight victories, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to prepare was huge
Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly deserves point for bravery after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to success
The defense is solid and first-year running back Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his first score
While you can argue who 'the top team' is statistically, the Pats should be favorites to finish with the top record due to their schedule - which features just one game against a winning team, although a huge one against the Bills
Traveling to Baltimore is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to face two times, the Chargers (who might also compete for first place but face the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the schedule
The Indianapolis also play the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There is a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is open for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Next Week Clash
Both squads with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three different 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Rams, who both put up forty points to reach 7-2 ahead of next week's Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the pair in Los Angeles
Both have won four in a row, have signal callers in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with top receivers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a contest
Both could easily be undefeated as well - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses came in extra time against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the last kick deflected and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
The Seahawks were also defeated to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in week one, before losing to the final play of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they are truly among the top teams in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far
Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Berlin - running for 244 yards, scoring three scores and contributing another 42 {receiving yards
