Fans Urge Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are urging that a person who jumped a barricade and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains clips of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Numerous fans criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said a further message on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande looked shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the well-known stage production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two very different witches.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of the previous year in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, winning several for best costume and artistic direction.
