Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.
The win also indicates he has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.
His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
