Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented known failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
